Bingu's condition uncertain

The Government machinery has left Kamuzu Central Hospital including the First Lady and the son and daughter of the President. She left at 2.55pm. This blog will update you soon....

President Bingu wa Mutharika is currently at Kamuzu Central Hospitals Intensive care unit where he was rushed to after repotedly suffering from a cardiac arrest.
The President according to eye witness at the Hospital arrived in a three vehicle convoy of which included an Dark Green Toyota Land Cruiser ambulance whose number plates were changed at the Hospitals car park.
State House security detail cleared the car park and moved patients and hospital workers to Out Patients Department, according to a Hospital worker, and the President was ferried on a stretcher into the Hospitals Intensive Care Unit.
The Nation arrived at the Hospital at 11.45 and found the Presidents brother Professor Peter Mutharika conferring with Chief Secretary to the President Bright Msaka. Director of National Intelligence Services Bintony Kutsaira was also among the first arrivals.
Later Inspector General of Police Peter Mukhito arrived in a private car driving himself, followed by Energy Minister Goodall Gondwe, who was closely followed by Health Minister Dr. Jean Kalirani.
The First Lady Callista Mutharika arrived around 1.45pm in a Mercedez benz labelled MG337AB, she was dressed in a red jacket.
Everything was quite with curious onlookers were allowed with very few visible Police outside the Hospital.
Gondwe, Msaka,Mukhito, Kutsaira have started leaving the Hospital. There is still no official word.

Protect the Poor Madame President

Finally the evil we all pretended would never come has landed. The Malawi Kwacha for long held at an artificial rate has come crumbling down to an already worn out people. Malawians have moved from position of comfort to that of uncertainty in the past one also years. The devaluation this morning, could not have been as painful as this one will be, if the kwacha was let to float and make its own value stand. Controls should only be done in economies which are stronger to sustain themselves. Today, the dollar is at K252 officially and the countries largest Commercial bank is buying at K247 and selling hard cash at K257. Good news to exporters- especially tobacco farmers.
